The score was 4-3 Dodgers heading into the bottom of the ninth inning with the bottom of the order coming up for the Phillies. Jonathan Broxton, one of the best closers in all of baseball, was in to finish off the game for the Dodgers. Most fans would not have much faith in this situation, but not Phillies fans. Broxton was able to get two outs, but he also put runners at first and second, which brought the top of the order up, and he had to face Jimmy Rollins. Rollins worked the count to 2-2, so the Phillies were down to their final strike. Broxton then fired a 98 MPH fastball, but it caught a lot of the plate, and Rollins did not miss it. As Rollins made contact, you could tell it was at least a base hit, which would score Eric Bruntlett from second, (who came in as a pinch runner for Matt Stairs after he walked), but you were not sure if it would score Carlos Ruiz from first base.

However, Rollins hit the ball in the perfect spot, and it went all the way to the wall as Andre Ethier was unable to catch up to it in right-center field. Ruiz hustled around the bases, and he scored easily on Jimmy Rollins clutch two out walk-off double to win the game for the Phils with a 5-4 final. Surprisingly, it was Rollins first career postseason walk-off hit, because he has come up big in late game situations his whole playoff career. Rollins was only 1-for-4 going into that ninth inning at bat, but once again he came up big. In the other games this postseason, he has gotten on base in late game situations and scored key runs, even if he is not having a good rest of the game. It seems that Rollins always shines in the biggest moments. Rollins is not the only one who shines in the biggest moments, but this whole Phillies team is clutch. They had 43 come from behind wins in the regular season to lead the NL, and with last night’s win, they now have four come from behind postseason wins. You can never count this team out of any game.
