Postseason Predictions  | read this item

As the start of the postseason is just moments away, I thought I would give my predictions for each series. Feel free to add your own predictions and/or reactions to mine.

National League Division Series:

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies

Phillies win in four games. The Phillies are the defending World Series Champions, and they are simply more talented overall than the Colorado Rockies. Yes, the Rockies are coming in as a hot team, but I think the Phillies will step up to the challenge and defeat the team that sent them to an early exit in the 2007 NLDS.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Cardinals win in four games. The Cardinals have better starting pitching, enough said.

American League Division Series:

New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins

Yankees win in four games. The Yankees have been the best team in baseball all season long, and even though the Twins are coming off a magical 17-4 run to close out the season, as well as a spectacular game against the Detroit Tigers last night, I think the Yankees overmatch the Twins in just about every category.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Boston Red Sox

Red Sox in five games. The Angels seem like a better team overall, but I can’t go against Josh Beckett in the postseason.

NLCS: Phillies over the Cardinals in seven games.
ALCS: Yankees over the Red Sox in six games.

World Series: Phillies over the Yankees in seven games.

As you can see, I am sticking with my preseason prediction.

I thought it would be appropriate to do the whole postseason now, but since it is very possible I could be dead wrong on a lot of these predictions, (or at least one or two), especially since the first round is so difficult to predict, I will have a new set of predictions before the Championship Series commence. Let the debating begin! October baseball is here!

Solid predictions. My only issue is with the Yanks over the Sox in 6 games. At the very least it’ll go 7! =)

Michael, I liked your predictions too, and the cool thing is that at the end of the postseason we’ll see who was right! I thought about saying Yankees over the Red Sox in seven, but I just think that the Yankees are so dominant this year because of all their “Big Money” signings in the offseason, and I think they have a very good chance to win it all. Boston is very good too, but we shall see what they do against a good Angels team tonight first before they even faceoff against the Yankees. Even though I grew up as a Phillies fan, I try not to be biased covering the team. I truly think they have a good chance to repeat this year, so we will see what happens! Thanks for your story and your comments, and please, keep them coming!

Iam a little bit worried that Charlie used both J.A. Happ and Blanton last night. Will Pedro be up to the challenge of winning game #3? If not, Phils vs. Rockies winning in 5?
