Jurrjens Takes No-Hitter Into Seventh; Braves Rout Phillies  | read this item

Jair Jurrjens took a no-hitter into the seventh and the offense won him a game for a change, taking a second straight from the Phillies, 11-1.

The Braves scored a lot of runs. Blah blah blah. Your scoring recap.

Jair Jurrjens: W (6-6), 7 IP, H, R, 4 BB, 6 K
Kris Medlen: 1 IP, H
Manny Acosta: 1 IP, K

Jurrjens held the Phillies hitless through six but a Paul Bako single in the seventh broke the no-hitter. He only allowed that one hit over seven innings. The one run allowed was unearned due to his own error, a bad throw on a pickoff attempt that let Jayson Werth move from first to third. He eventually scored on a sac fly by Greg Dobbs. Jurrjens lowered his ERA to 2.73 with the strong outing.

Chipper Jones: 2-4, 2B, 3 RBI
Matt Diaz: 3-5, HR, 2 RBI
Martin Prado: 2-4, 2B, HR
Brian McCann: 2-5, 2 RBI

The lone starter without a hit was Casey Kotchman. Heck, even Jeff Francoeur had one. The duo of Blanco/Prado had three hits and scored five times. 1-2 material right there. Diory Hernandez also hit a solo homer and scored twice but nobody really cares because he’s hitting .135. Good to see a little double digit offense going on.

Notable Phillies:
Cole Hamels: L (4-5), 4 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, K

Notable Stat:
Have you ever noticed when the Braves win they usually score more than five runs? The Braves scored five or more runs in 18 of their past 27 wins. They do not know how to win low scoring games, which is not good for this offense.

Next Game:
7/2: Phillies, 7:00 (J.A. Happ vs. Javier Vazquez)
