The Rays have a nine-game winning streak when an artist plays their concert series, and this weekend’s star, Ludacris, is not feeling the pressure.  Baseball Digest had a chance to speak to the Grammy winner and multi-platinum artist in anticipation of his June 13 show at the Trop.

Although Ludacris is from Atlanta, he seemed well aware of the Rays and their surging hot-corner man.  While he begged off freestyling a match for Longoria, the author of such hits as “Roll Out,” “Southern Hospitality” and “Area Codes,” said an on-stage improvisation isn’t out of the question.

It should be a busy summer for him.  In addition to his back-to-school program through the Ludacris Foundation, Ludacris also has two films in the works and a new album coming in September.  He also has an album coming out that is a duet with Shawwna, entitled “Battle of the Sexes,” which as he says, will “include a more female perspective than most hip hop albums.”

The Ludacris Foundation does everything from give kids school supplies, haircuts and clothes in preparation for the coming year.  Luda said his main goal is “to have the kids go into school with confidence, so they can focus on their studies.”

As Chris “Ludacris” Bridges continues to break ground as a rapper, movie star and celebrity, on Saturday June 13, he will be getting back to basics and sharing some of his music with the Rays fans.  Considering the man’s track record in show business, I think the Rays can expect to make it to ten in a row.
