The Twins scored four runs in the bottom of the first off of a wild Scott Kazmir. In fact, two runs in that inning scored on wild pitches. Nick Blackburn took over from there and the Twins beat the Rays 8-3 to win the series two games to one.
The top of the Twins lineup was very productive in this game. Denard Span, Brendan Harris and Justin Morneau each had three hits in the game. Morneau had a double and also walked once. Span hit a triple.
Blackburn gave up just two runs on eight hits and a walk in seven innings to improve to 2-1. Craig Breslow pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and Luis Ayala gave up a single run in the 9th inning.
The Twins will take Thursday off before starting a three game series at the Metrodome against the Kansas City Royals. Sometime in between, the Twins will activate All-Star catcher Joe Mauer.
