Well that was frustrating. As Matt pointed out earlier, you can look to Cory Wade, or to Russell Martin, or you can look to a post I did before the season even started. I hate to say I told you so…

The other day, during a Spring Training game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies, broadcasting station KCAL 9 ran a graphic sizing up the competition within the NL West.

Not many people (in fact I haven’t seen anybody) are predicting success for the San Diego Padres in 2009, but that doesn’t mean they should be written off as easy competition. By no means am I defending the Padres, and the Dodgers SHOULD be able to win their fair share against the Friars this season, but it isn’t wise to blatantly omit a team based on perceived notions. After all, look no further than the Tampa Bay Rays of 2008.
