1. Bredan Ryan (2B)

2. Dick Ankiel (CF)

3. Albert Pujols (1B)

4. Kahlil Greene (SS)

5. Ryan Ludwick (RF)

6. Yadier Molina (C)

7. Chris Duncan (LF)

8. Brian Barden (3B)

9. Adam Wainwright (P)

Big surprises here?

Skip Shumaker and David Freese, the projected starters at 2B and 3B, are riding the pine agains the Pirates LH starting pitcher.  Brendan Ryan and Brian Barden will start in their places.

Khalil Greene tore the cover off the ball this spring and will get the first crack at being Albert’s protection plan.

Adam Wainwright, the pitcher will bat 9th, not 8th- a TLR line-up staple for the past couple of years.

Other than that- about what we expected. (TLR noted that he will spend lots of time working on each line-up on a day by day basis and that he doesn’t want Shumaker or Freese to get the wrong idea- he really thinks that Ryan and Barden will match-up better with the Pirates starter…)

Look forward to more Opening Day banter all day tommorrow…

  1. Bill Ivie says:

I trust the skipper, but damn, what is this thing?

Freese is a right handed third baseman that handles lefties just fine…

Duncan couldn’t hit a lefthander to save his rear-end but gets the start…

Greene had a good spring, but clean up hitter good? Come on….

Now that I’ve said that, this lineup will produce and produce well and prove why I write about baseball and TLR lives it…
