logo.gifCan’t we just have a 4-team playoff between the Mets, Phillies, Cardinals and Cubs?  No? We have to include someone from the NL West? Sigh. FINE.  In all honestly, I think there will be two decent teams in the West this year, which is two more than they normally have, so good on them. Actually, in the past 2 NLDS the Dbacks and Dodgers have pretty much embarrassed the Cubbies, which was awesome, so I shouldn’t poke fun.

NL West
Arizona Diamondbacks      85        77
Los Angeles Dodgers        84        78
San Francisco Giants         81        81
Colorado Rockies               72        90
San Diego Padres              70        92

I think M-M-M-Manny and the Dodgers will fight it out all year with Haren, Webb and the Dbacks.  In the end, the fun-loving kook nutbag egomaniac Manny will be edged out for the division title.  Haren and Webb are one of the best 1-2 punches in baseball (maybe THE best) and there are a lot of young supporting cast members behind them in Arizona. The Giants added a lot of help to their pitching staff, which is nice because their Ws aren’t solely resting on the shoulders of a 13 year-old boy named Timmy who is more concerned that he’s starting to get hair in new places. I think the Giants play right around .500 ball. The Rockies and the Padres will be fodder for the division W column.
