Predicting the National League East  | read this item

logo.gifFor day two of the United Cardinal Bloggers project, we are all taking a swing (see what I did there?) at the National League East predictions. Personally, I think the NL East is going to be tough this year and it’s kind of a shame we can’t take a Wild Card out of both the East and the Central and just let the West rest after September.  They’re bound to be tired of losing.

NL East
New York Mets                  90        72
Philadelphia Phillies       88         74
Atlanta Braves                   85        77
Florida Marlins                  72         90
Washington Nationals    71         91

As you can see, I think there’s a pretty big gap between the top 3 and the bottom 2.  Florida and Washington just aren’t going to compete for anything this year.  As for the division winner, I think it’ll be a dogfight the whole way between New York and Philly. The only reason I went with the Mets right here is because I hate the Philadelphia Phillies.  Not so much the *actual* Phillies, but their fans.  Phillies fans have historically been more horrible to me than even Cubs fans at Wrigley Field.  So they can get bent.  I also think the Braves will hang around like an annoying little brother, but ultimately won’t take any titles.
