I’m starting to get the butterflies just thinking about the beginning of what could be a very special ’09 season for the Dodgers and for all of baseball for that matter.  For the first time in quite a while, it seems as though teams from every market have a chance to compete.  Steroid use appears to be in decline, New York is boasting two brand-new stadiums, and there is an influx of young talent spread across the board.  I think it’s very appropriate to say that it’s once again a very exciting time to be a baseball fan.

Now that opening day is less than a week away, i better make sure i’m ready for the 162-game gauntlet.  Let’s see…

  1. Dust off game-jersey to be worn for all Dodger games watched and/or attended.  CHECK
  2. Program DVR to capture everything Dodger-related.  CHECK
  3. Start hitting up all connections for tickets.  CHECK (I hate paying for seats)
  4. Plan out road-trips to other ballparks besides Dodger Stadium.  CHASE FIELD – CHECK  (Need to get up to SF and out to COL this year)
  5. Sacrifice ex-Dodger bobble-heads.  SOON TO BE COMPLETED (This is something i take great satisfaction in.  For example, Brian Jordan’s bobble-head leaped off the 2nd story of my brother’s apartment building in Santa Barbara.  Currently, my Joe Beimel and Takashi Saito bobble-heads are on suicide watch.)
  6. Stock up on cold, beachwood-aged Budweiser.  CHECK (Gotta stay true to the original)
  7. Get the arteries prepped for numerous amounts of Dodger Dogs, nachos, chocolate malts, etc. CHECK (I’m not old enough to be worrying about this…well, that’s what i keep telling myself)
  8. Clean off grill for those SoCal summer bbqs. CHECK
  9. Start my MLB 2K9 season with hopes of actually completing a 162-game season. CHECK (I’m off to an 0-2 start)
  10. Warn the wife about what is approaching.  HOLD OFF UNTIL THE VERY LAST MINUTE!

Just another side-note as i get back into the swing of contributing to the site….Brandon, Matt G., myself, and a couple others are heading to Arizona to catch the Dodgers / D-Backs on Apr.11th.  We’ll be documenting every aspect of the journey as we embark on the weekend trip to support our boys.

Lastly, it’s good to be back on the site after a long hiatus.

Cheers!

  1. Brandon Wahl says:

    Glad to have you back.

  2. Todd says:

I have enough bobble heads to sacrifice to be called a massacre. Brian Jordan was left in the parking lot with his legs severed off at the knees.
