Due to the World Baseball Classic, the Twins had one of their four scheduled off-days of the spring yesterday. The Major League side of things was quiet, but there was some action on the minor league side.

  • Pat Neshek used the day off to watch some college basketball, in fact, he says that’s really all he did.

  • There is still no update on Joe Mauer, although it has been hinted that he won’t need surgery. It looks more and more like Mauer will miss at least the first week of the regular season, and if he does, Mike Redmond is ready to step up.

  • It turns out that first-round draft pick Aaron Hicks can do more than hit, he’s also supposedly a great golfer too.

  • The guys over at the Star Tribune have posted the latest “Twins Notebook“. They talk about Brian Duensing, Jose Mijares and Joe Mauer amongst other things.

  • La Velle had a few updates on how some major leaguers performed in minor league action on Tuesday. He also gives plenty of updates on some minor leaguers.

  • Be sure to check out the most recent “Twins Player Profile” here at Baseball Digest. The most recent looks back at Tony Oliva.

  • And finally, make sure to head over to the longtime Minnesota Twins blog, AaronGleeman.com to congratulate Aaron on 5,000,000 views. It without a doubt took quite a bit of work to tally that total.
