At the plate…
The Korean team took advantage of a wild, overworked Chinese pitching staff. Team China allowed 7 walks and 3 hit batsmen. Korea only needed 10 hits to score 14 runs last night. It seemed like everyone got in on the action. KBO batting champ Kim Hyeon-su started the scoring in the 1st inning with an RBI single. The game was pretty much over after that. 3rd baseman Lee Beom-ho clubbed a 2-run homer in the 4th inning. Choo Shin-soo was hit by a pitch for the 2nd consecutive game. I’d be surprised if he played tonight.
On the mound…
Yoon Seok-min was excellent and provided exactly what the Korean team needed. Yoon work 6 shutout innings. He allowed only 2 hits and struck out 4.
In the field…
The Chinese team committed 2 errors, but it could have been as many as 5. The official scorer must have had some sympathy for the Chinese club. The Korean team looked solid in the field. Lee Beom-ho replaced Lee Dae-ho at 3rd base. It probably wouldn’t have made a difference if Dae-ho had started.
